atmospheric ambient tracks

In further searching, and admittedly further struggling, I have finally found my music. I gave up on the Zappa estate and moved on to royalty-free/public domain music. After spending too long searching through the public domain music registry, listening to track after track that I hate, I decided to try newer music in the public domain. I decided to check out the website "Freeesound", and after only a little while of searching, I found what I needed. I found music made by small creators which Aren't linked to any record company. It's all under the creative commons license, which essentially states it's copyright free. The sound I chose is called "Atmosphere", and it's by a user named DaveJF. It was uploaded on 4/30/2021 and has a little over 300 downloads. I'm choosing it because, to me, it sounds desolate. It's an ambient track, with no lyrics or any distinct qualities. This definitely works to my advantage. All I hear when I listen to it i...

And that's a wrap (for now, that I know of)

Today was my second filming day. I tackled all the outdoor scenes, which comprise 2/3 of my whole project. Like many famous actors/directors before me, I moved back and forth a lot. I was constantly running from my blocked position to the camera to make sure the angles were right. Today was a lot of fun. The first scene wasn't too much back and forth. The second really was a lot of moving around. The angles switched a lot from my character to my actor. This was fairly hard to do, as I had to try to return to as exact a position as I was in before. This was to ensure continuity. I was actually able to finish filming today. This was a fairly complex process as I said before. I'm not excited to start editing though. This was technologically my hardest. Additionally, my actress backed out at last second so she couldn't film when I was acting. I'm eternally grateful to my actor's cousin, who stepped up to the plate, although he was a cheap expense. In summary, I cannot ...

Lights, Camera, Action Pt. 1

Image
Today, I began my filming. I gathered my lovely actor and actress and went to my filming location. The first, and easiest scene to shoot is the second, taking place in my living room. I got this donee rather quickly. First, I trailed Eric (spence) upstairs, before he began to turn a corner. There, I stopped rolling and moved to another part of my house, with a similar corner that turns into the living room. There, I began rolling again and followed my actor around the corner. Then, I filmed them hugging before they sat and dialogue began. In reviewing all the footage at the end of the day, the audio actually turned out alright. This first day of filming was actually rather easy. I was able to knock out about a third of my whole film in a couple hours. There wasn't anything too complex about this part of filming except for the diegetic knocking sound at the end of the sequence. I was home alone with my two actors, and we'd needed a fourth person in order to get the knocking rig...

Wardrobe Check

Image
My project doesn't need quite too much for costuming. Spence, the man in prison wears two outfits. In the cutaway/memory segment, he wears a suit and tie, which I know my actor has his own. In the prison segments, he wears traditional striped prison workwear. I know my actor does not have this. His wife in the film, LeNora, wears a blouse and white pants, which I'm sure my actress has. The guard, who will be played by me, will be wearing a prison guard's uniform, with the hat and everything. From my time doing theater work, I made a lot of contacts, one of those being the owners of a costume shop. I called them the other day to discuss costuming, and what I need. They said to come on in any time, and that they had a lot of what I was looking for. In this upcoming weekend, I intend to bring my actor with me to the store, where we will be fitted and find costumes. If they don't have exactly what I need, I can always rely on Party City, although it may be a little more ex...

Uncle Remus- Frank Zappa

Image
When we received this project, the first thing I thought about was my soundtrack, being that I'm a huge music person. I had been listening to "Apostrophe(')" by Frank Zappa that day, and heard Uncle Remus around the same time as the assignment, and fell in love with the sound. I did a bunch of research after, as the Zappa catalogue has a few owners. His estate/family own a lot of the music, and so does universal Music Enterprise. Browsing sites like Reddit and various forums from the early 2000's and 2010's, I found an email address which might work. I was told to reach out to Munchkinmusic@gmail.com, which I did. Below is the Email I sent: To whomever it may concern, I am Alex Rosenblum. I am a high schooler in Fort Lauderdale Florida, and I am seeking the rights to use frank Zappa‘s “uncle Remus“ for a school project. I need to use the first two minutes of the song, and was hoping I could discuss obtaining the rights  with somebody. Thank you I can be conta...
