Uncle Remus- Frank Zappa

When we received this project, the first thing I thought about was my soundtrack, being that I'm a huge music person. I had been listening to "Apostrophe(')" by Frank Zappa that day, and heard Uncle Remus around the same time as the assignment, and fell in love with the sound. I did a bunch of research after, as the Zappa catalogue has a few owners. His estate/family own a lot of the music, and so does universal Music Enterprise. Browsing sites like Reddit and various forums from the early 2000's and 2010's, I found an email address which might work. I was told to reach out to Munchkinmusic@gmail.com, which I did.

Below is the Email I sent:

To whomever it may concern,

I am Alex Rosenblum. I am a high schooler in Fort Lauderdale Florida, and I am seeking the rights to use frank Zappa‘s “uncle Remus“ for a school project. I need to use the first two minutes of the song, and was hoping I could discuss obtaining the rights  with somebody. Thank you

I can be contacted at:

Have a good afternoon

I sent that email in late January (1/28 to be specific), and have still not received anything back as of now (3/8). Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to use this song, so I've begun researching royalty free music, as well as loopholes to these copyright and loyalty rules. I'm struggling to find anything. To be frank, royalty free music really stinks. Additionally, spotify is down at the moment, so I can't even try to find royalty inclusive music. I'm really in a bit of a pickle. I like the sound of a soft rock or bluesy song to use in my movie, even if just for a moment. This is why Zappa was perfect; its soft music with a bluesy twang.
