Intro Blog

I am Alex Lane Rosenblum. I am 16 years old and come from Fort Lauderdale Florida. My interests include music, biking, driving, watching movies, seeing family and friends, and collecting vinyl records and cassettes. My favorite genre of film is probably comedy or drama. Recently, I saw "28 Days Later" directed by Danny Boyle, and "Punch-Drunk Love" by Paul Thomas Anderson. "28 Days Later" appeals to me in both a cinematographic sense with the opening handful of sequences being on desolate London streets. The way they did this in terms of timing and specificity continues to wow me every time I even think about the movie. Additionally, I really appreciate that this is a zombie movie where the characters aren't supersoldiers or trained killing machines; they're all just regular people trying to survive. I really like that "Punch-Drunk Love" is about a character who isn't in tip-top mental health. I don't love Adam Sandler's acting abilities, but his performance in this film is spectacular. Additionally, the plot is pretty different, moving very quickly and jumping forward in time. I wanted to take AICE media studies for a plethora of reasons. Number one being that I appreciate film and want to understand more about it at its bare bones. Number two is because I heard it was a genuinely enjoyable class and look forward to an amazing year. I've only gotten into film in the last 6 months or so. I make an effort to watch 10 films a month and catalog them on a letterboxd account. So far, I've logged 50 films since May. I really like older movies and films, and genuinely appreciate the potentially added effort required to produce one, without modern capabilities for sfx and the likes. The project that excites me most in this class is probably the music video. My closeness to music, and what it has done for me will heavily feed into my creative flow.
