The Odd Man Out

 Scene 1:

A prisoner is on his knees, he is seen picking away at a large stone with a pickaxe
Over the shoulder shot (right shoulder) as he works

Prisoner- (V.O.) My name is Robert Spence. I'm 29 years old. I'm innocent. I'm the only innocent man at the Federal Prison Camp, in "beautiful" Pensacola Florida. Somehow, I still manage to get treated worse than the murderers, the kidnappers, the . It's like I'm the odd man out.

He stops working before we Zoom in on Robert's head and suddenly there is color. We see him dressed sharply coming up the stairs before he steps into his living room

Scene 2:

    Robert- Sage, I'm home!
A woman gets off the couch and runs to greet him, his wife
Sage- How was work today, hun?
She kisses him on the cheek, then they sit together
Robert-  You know, it was Strange. We had a lot of police and federal agents in and out of the office and they interviewed everyone. It put everyone on edge, but I know everybody is working by the books. It was weird.

Sage-Did they contract you guys at any time recently?

Robert- No, that's the strangest part. When we get local law enforcement contracts, usually we meet with the chief or lead investigator, just the heads of everything. We had half the local FBI branch walking in and out today.

Sage- I wonder what they'd want, what with asking the whole office? I wouldn't worry too much about it. Would you like to have dinner soon?

Robert- That would be nice. A lovely meal with a lovely woman
He gently rubs her thigh before we hear a knock on the door (diegetic sound), we see him stand up

Scene 3:

We zoom out of Robert's head and see A shadow steps over him, we pan up and to the left to see the prison guard standing over him.

Guard- Son, you'd better keep working. This rock isn't going to break itself up.
Close up of Robert's face
Robert- Why is it I'm the only one out here today?
We now see an over the shoulder of the guard, looking down on Robert
Guard- What should it matter to you? Warden's request that we were out here together today. Trust me, you'd best listen to him. He doesn't like criminals of your kind.

    Robert- What does that mean?

Guard- He thinks white collared criminals such as yourself are weak. He thinks you're sissies. If you really wanted to be here, you'd do something that hurt people.

Robert- I didn't do anything, yet I'm here.
Robert grips his pickaxe harder, Extreme closeup on the Guard's eyes; he sees the grip tighten
low angle, see Robert begin to turn before the guard delivers a swift kick to his face
(laughing)
Guard- You really thought you could try shit like that and get away with that? I've got two options right here. Either I deliver your sorry ass to the warden or execute you right here. Choice is yours.
Closeup of Robert's face, his lip and nose are bleeding
    Robert- I'll see the warden.

Scene 4:

The warden's office, we see him sharply dressed on one side of a desk, with Robert chained to a chair on the other side
Warden- How's about you tell me about this little stunt you tried pulling today, Spence?

Robert- There isn't too much to say, sir. I was going to attack my friend over there (he looks behind him)
Cut to the guard before resuming the scene
Robert- (continuing) then I was going to run, I was going to run like hell.

Warden- You've put me in an interesting place. On one hand, I'd love to extend your sentence, especially since you've just admitted to me that you were planning on assaulting one of my guards with a potentially deadly weapon. On the other, I hate your kind. I look at you as nothing more than a pussy criminal.
He leans in on his desk, glaring at Robert
(Continuing) What do you think should happen to you, son?
Robert- I think you should let me out of here already. I'm innocent, for the last time.
